Want to save days, weeks or even months of work? You can now get all this information sent to you in Microsoft Word format by purchasing our Quality Management System In A Box.

Well before you start making any changes to the quality system, it is important to start training your personnel on the requirements of ISO. This introductory training will accomplish 2 things:
Get buy-in from people because they will feel that they are part of the process from the beginning and not like ISO was just dumped on them.

It will help people understand the requirements of ISO before they start writing their own procedures ( and I recommend that they write their own first drafts in almost every case).
The training should be based on the level of personnel. Senior managers and executive training may focus on the high level organizational and process changes. Hourly employees will need to know how ISO will make their job better and what they can expect in the coming months.

All training should cover the basic concepts of quality management , requirements of ISO 9001, and expected impact on the strategic goals of the organization. Training should also include how the changes will effect the work-culture and the process of supporting the customers.
If there is no in-house training capacity, it may be necessary to send personnel for external training courses have a training institution come to the facility for the training.

Remember: Getting buy-in from everyone is critical to the success of the new quality system.
